San Diego Transportation Offers Exactly What You're Looking For

San Diego transportation systems offer just about everything from car rentals, train travel, trolley services, etc. What ever means of transportation your looking for you're sure to find it here.

Personally, when my family and I go on trips we enjoy the flexibility a car offers. Whether it's a car rental or our own personal car, we enjoy being able to get anyplace we desire within a few minutes.

Traveling around with a car may not be everyone's preference while on vacation, so I have included some other ways you can get around town. These are divided into different categories.

My suggestion is that you try a few different San Diego transportation methods as they all create their own unique memories.

1. Car

Most people find that this is by far the best San Diego Transportation method. Traveling by car is a very flexible option that puts you in control at all times.

If you're considering this option, you actually have two options to choose from...Considering you don't drive here of course.

Car Rentals: Car rentals are one of the most convenient ways to ensure you will have a ride waiting for you when you arrive.

There are many different companies to choose from. I won't get into too much detail here, but if this is something you are considering then read on...

Taxi: Traveling by Taxi is another popular option. This can be quite expensive if it will be your primary method of transportation. On the other hand, it is an excellent way to travel somewhere you know traffic and parking will be a problem.

2. Public Transportation

San Diego has an excellent public transportation system. You can get to just about any place in San Diego using public transportation.

Trolley:

San Diego's Red Trolley consists of the Blue Line and the Orange Line. Both lines can take you to just about any place in San Diego. This is a great option for traveling to the Gaslamp District where traffic and parking are a constant headache.

Bus:

Bus Travel is a good method to get around, but I wouldn't recommend it for long distance traveling. Buses are ideal for local travel as they make too many stops.

3. Train Travel

Coaster:

This is San Diego's personal train travel express commuter service. It travels along San Diego's coastline. You will find the Coaster jam packed during peak rush hours as employees commute to and from the Santa Fe Depot station in Downtown.

Amtrak:

The Amtrak train makes consecutive trips between San Diego and Los Angeles on a daily basis. If you are feeling a little adventuresome you can take the Amtrak all the way to California's Central Coast. It is a great trip, and I highly recommend you try it some time.

4. Water Transportation

Ferry:

If you're thinking about making a trip over to Coronado, but don't feel like driving your car over the bridge, there is another option...

You can take a Ferry ride over there. It is a one of a kind transportation option.

5. Bicycle

San Diego is a pedestrian friendly city for the most part...

You may want to watch out for speeders if you choose to bike around town.

Many of San Diego's roads have been designed specifically for cyclists. I live in Otay Ranch, a part of Chula Vista located in the South Bay of San Diego. This whole community has been designed with the pedestrian in mind. It's a great place for long distance cycling.

There are other great places you can commute with a bicycle...

If you plan to make this your primary San Diego transportation method, just make sure to drink plenty of water!
