San Diego Shopping Is Far From Ordinary

It is truly a shopper's paradise. San Diego Shopping offers a variety of shopping malls, outlets, discount stores, and shopping districts.

Whether it's a souvenir you’re looking for, or you simply want to go on a shopping frenzy, you’re sure to find it on your next trip.

There are a variety of places for shopping in San Diego. There are Districts filled with shops. San Diego also offers a variety of Shopping Malls for every taste. Then there are the Discount Stores, Outlet Centers, and Flea Markets.

The list is so long I could not possibly do them all justice, so I have listed a few of my favorite spots for San Diego Shopping below.

Shopping Districts:

1. Gas Lamp District San Diego - Located in the Downtown area, the Gaslamp Quarter is loaded with unique shops. The cool thing about these shops is that they are open late. The streets are usually filled with Club goers or young couples.

2. Seaport Village - This is a really cool spot for shopping. It is located directly next to the bay. It consists mostly of Souvenir Shops, and Restaurants. On a sunny day you may even catch a street performance. You may also like to ride the carousel with your little ones.

3. Old Town - This location is full of San Diego History, along with great shops for the typical souvenir shopper. Make sure to visit Plaza del Pasado, which is full of theme-based shops. My personal favorite thing about Old Town is watching a Mariachi performance, while dining at one of its Mexican Restaurants.

4. La Jolla - Personally I never shop here, but I have always dreamed about it. You see, this shopping district has nothing but upscale shops that rival Rodeo Drive. I have gone window-shopping in the past, and my personal favorite shop is the Ferrari Dealership. Hey, it doesn't hurt to dream.

Shopping Malls:

1. Horton Plaza - Among the most popular shopping malls is Horton Plaza located in the Gaslamp District. I particularly like this mall because of its unique architecture and colorful display.

2. Fashion Valley - If high quality and upscale stuff is your thing, then this is the place for you.

3. Otay Ranch Town Center - This San Diego shopping mall was just recently opened in 2006. My family and I really enjoy this spot because it is close to home, and all shopping is done in the open air.

Outlet Shopping:

1. The Shops At Las Americas - Close to the Mexican border, this outlet mall exceeds anyones expectations of what an outlet mall. It has well over 75 stores. What ever you are looking for you are more than likely to find it here at bargain prices.

2. Viejas Outlet Mall - If you are looking to take a family retreat this is the place. Plan for a whole day of shopping. Don't miss out on Viejas Casino Buffet, and if your feeling lucky visit the Casino. Viejas is also known for putting on some fine performances.

3. Nordstrom Rack - Like shopping name brand, but don't want to pay an arm and a leg for it. Then this is the spot for you.

4. Burlington Coat Factory - This is my wife's personal favorite. It is just like your typical department store in the mall, but you just can't find prices like these anywhere else.

Flea Markets:

1. Kobey's Swap Meet - Located on the west side of the Sports Arena, it is by far the biggest and most popular flea market in San Diego.

2. Spring Valley Swap Meet - Although there are many more flea markets in San Diego, this is my personal favorite. Twice a year I bring the old junk I have accumulated in the garage and sell it here.
